Mindfulness for Medicos: Healing the Healers!
Taking care of patients’ health is any doctor’s utmost priority, so is taking care of one’s own
health. We doctors, however, tend to ignore the red flag signs of our own deteriorating health
issues till we hit rock-bottom.
When it comes to mental health, we are surrounded by fears and anxieties and stigma around accepting mental illnesses and seeking help for them. We have successful professional lives but fare miserably on many fronts, marred by relationship failures, unhappy marriages, sleepless nights, substance use, midlife crisis, inability to cope with stresses and professional failures, burnout or just the pressing anxiety whether you will be able to pass the next exam and yet we prefer to go in loops, rather than addressing the core issues.
We have been through many of these issues ourselves and we know the drill. We know we all
need that one person who will just listen to us without passing any judgment or advice. So, we
decided to reach out to those in the medical profession, be a medical student, intern, graduates, postgraduate trainees, professionals and help us create a community of AWARE DOCTORS, who are not just taking care of patients but themselves as well.
Welcome to Mindfulness for Medicos, our initiative based on mindfulness based approaches to help you understand your own mental health and learn the skills to deal with various issues that keep you trapped in your personal and professional lives.
